With uses in domestic scenarios, agriculture, and industrial applications, harvesting rainwater has many advantages.

Harvesting rainwater has many advantages, no matter the application. Because water is such a commonly utilized natural resource, there are environmental, financial, and other practical benefits. Just how much can you benefit from harvesting rainwater? Read on to find out.

Environmental and Energy Advantages of Harvesting Rainwater

There are several advantages of harvesting rainwater that positively impact the environment. Firstly, harvesting rainwater tanks helps to conserve water further by storing it safely for emergency purposes. Collecting rainwater can also prevent problems in your yard from stormwater overflow and ground erosion if you live in an area that frequently experiences hard rainfall. In addition to this, rainwater also serves as a natural way to irrigate crops and hydrate livestock without relying on your local water company. On the opposite side of the coin, during droughts, using harvested rainwater is especially helpful in preventing fires.

Harvesting rainwater also promotes energy conservation. Because rainwater harvesting is a reasonably straightforward process that doesn’t require much energy, using rainwater in your home, business, or other facility conserves more water needed to be pumped to you. This helps cut down costs on your end as well as your water company’s end.

Financial Advantages Brought by Harvesting Rainwater

The most obvious financial advantage of harvesting rainwater is that rainwater is free to collect because it is a natural resource. Strategically taking advantage of natural resources eliminates the need to buy water for crop irrigation or drinking. It also reduces water bills because you no longer have to pay for as much water as usual from your city’s water company to wash laundry or bathe. This can make a huge difference for tenants who cannot afford to pay a monthly water bill to get clean water for drinking or cooking in low-income areas.

Once a rainwater collection system is in place, rainwater harvesting can decrease the need for water in your community or at your job’s location. Rainwater harvesting systems are also pretty easy and inexpensive to maintain, so you can update your system to accommodate your rainwater harvesting needs better if they change. Rainwater harvesting also works in decreasing the demand for municipal water once a harvesting system is installed.

Practical Advantages of Harvesting Rainwater

Harvesting rainwater is easy, and setting up a rainwater harvesting system doesn’t take too much difficulty. Because of this, you can take advantage of the practical benefits of harvesting rainwater for your home with ease.

While rainwater is not always filtered, you can use potable rainwater for in-home applications such as water consumption and domestic uses like cleaning and cooking with a filtration system in place. Rainwater is also effective as an outdoor cleaner to get rid of debris from storms or clean your vehicle using a hose or pressure washer.

Harvested rainwater is also excellent to use outside for irrigation. Unfiltered potable rainwater can be safe for taking care of flowers and performing general lawn care and a variety of other applications where it is not consumed. Farmland highly benefits from harvested rainwater as the collected amount covers more extensive operations with ease, giving life to more dying plants in the heat.

In industrial applications, you don’t have to rely on treated water from your municipal water company. Instead, you can use harvested rainwater if you don’t require filtered water to carry out industrial tasks.

Find Solutions Through Harvesting Rainwater

If you think harvesting rainwater solves a multitude of water problems across a variety of applications, you’re right. While other water conservation methods can still be effective, a water tank and rainwater harvesting system opens you up to the many advantages of harvesting rainwater. With financial, environmental, energy, conservational, and practical benefits for collecting rainwater, it’s a wise option that promotes efficiency when accessing potable water.

Maintenance of lawns is a pain for everyone. It is hard to take care of the lawn as it needs regular maintenance.

It's a good idea to hire a professional lawn care company to maintain your lawn and do everything you can to keep it looking great. But how do you decide which lawn care professionals are best for you?

Before hiring a lawn care company, you should consider these prime points listed in this blog.

1. Reputation

Do thorough research and search on Google for the best lawn care service providers. Check for their reviews to know the customer feedback. See if any accolades or local news mentions are there. Talk to the people in your locality to know the lawn care service company that people around you are using. Check for their reputation with neighbors and also online.

2. Licensed

Ensure that the company you choose is licensed and run according to the local by-laws. A licensed company implies that they are trained workers, they are professional and trustworthy. Non-licensed might be cheaper but not worth it.

3. Contracts

Check for the types of contracts available. Also, confirm if signing a contract is mandatory. Check if they have an option of one-time service or if they take weekly, monthly, or annual contracts.

4. Pricing

You must first get a quote from the company before finalizing the job with them. Do not believe and accept the price from any company before they visit your property and give you a quote. Compare the price chart with other companies as well.

5. Reliability

Check if the company is reliable. Many times people get duped by fake online reviews. So, don’t let that happen to you. Call them over to your property, speak to them, judge them and gauge if you can rely on them. You can also ask for references from them. Generally, a reputable company will not hesitate to give them. Unless you are sure, do not assign the job to them.

6 Different Ways To Improve Your Bathroom

By necessity, we spend lots of time in the bathroom. So, why not make it the ideal haven for you? Here are six different ways to improve your bathroom.

6 Different Ways To Improve Your Bathroom

The bathroom presents a moment of privacy where we care for some of our most basic needs and get ready to tackle the day. So, you can improve your life by making it as ideal as possible. Finding ways to improve your bathroom can help you prepare for the day and put yourself in the right headspace. To that end, here are six different ways to improve your bathroom.

Add Plants

Adding a bit of foliage to your bathroom can help breathe a new sense of life into it–literally. Not only do plants add a bit of color to a bathroom, but being around nature is naturally pleasing to us. They’re great for starting your day off right with a positive mindset. Just ensure your bathroom gets enough natural light so that any plants you bring into the bathroom will receive ample nourishment.

Include Art

A similar but different way to improve your bathroom is to hang works of art on the wall. You don’t need an expensive Picasso or anything of the sort. Instead, try checking out your local thrift stores for pieces of art that appeal to you or elicit emotion from you. This will make the walls of the bathroom much more interesting to look at. It will also add a touch of your personality to the room.

Extra Storage

For a more practical addition, adding extra storage options to the bathroom can help make a cluttered bathroom feel tidy. These can be traditional things like cabinets or items that are a bit more creative or uncommon, such as jars and baskets. You can use these to hold your toiletries.

New Towels

When not in use, towels are just as decorative as they are practical. If your towels are beginning to seem worn out, or you just want a change of pace, new towels can contribute a spa-like feel to the bathroom. Depending on the color of your bathroom, your towels’ color can even serve as a pleasing contrast.

Tile Designs

Maybe you’re looking for a bit more character in your floors or walls. Tiles are an excellent addition to any bathroom. Typically, you might include them in the shower or a backsplash for the sink. Tiling can be as simple as minimalist subway tiles or as audacious as 3D hexagon tiles. You’ll never feel starved for choice.

Fresh Paint

Of course, if tiles aren’t your thing, there’s always the tried-and-true option of repainting the walls. Color alone influences our mental and emotional state, so a fresh coat of paint can help promote a happier and healthier lifestyle. If anything, it’s an inexpensive way to get some change in your life.

Creative Ways To Add a Pop of Color to Your Interior Décor

Color breathes life into our dreary world, so it can breathe life into our homes as well. Here are a few creative ways to add color to your space.

Creative Ways To Add a Pop of Color to Your Interior Décor

When I was a young teenager, I had sparkling aspirations of the type of apartment I’d have when I was older. I imagined painting poetry on the walls and filling my home with colorful, beatnik furniture. Boring home décor? Not for me!

Of course, as I grew older, I found that my dreams faded with my lack of time and lack of design know-how. But it’s still possible to find creative ways to add a pop of color to your interior décor to create the boho home of your thirteen-year-old dreams.

Painting the Architecture

The most obvious way to add a pop of color to your interior décor is to add a little paint to the walls—an accent wall, a mural, or my idea of painting Shel Silverstein verses on my bedroom wall. But architecture goes beyond the walls. For example, that eyesore of a radiator in the corner can become an artistic focal point with a little paint.

Some other architectural pieces you can dress up with paint include:

  • Fireplaces

  • Millwork

  • Doors

  • Stairs

  • Pillars and support beams

  • Rafters

Add a Little Art

But sometimes you have to ask yourself, why do the work of painting the wall—or other bits of your house, as it were—when someone else has already painted a canvas?

Art is a fantastic way to add pops of color, and it needn’t end with adding a characterless print to your wall. You can hang one large piece or a cluster of smaller frames to create a gallery wall. Otherwise, you can add tapestries or statues to a space for a truly eclectic look.

Fun With Furniture

We often think about the fact that furniture has color, but we don’t often think of it as a candidate for adding a color pop. That’s because furniture often lies on the neutral end of the color spectrum. But you can mix things up by buying some vibrant statement furniture. If you can’t find it for a reasonable price, you can always liven up an old piece with some bright paint.

So, my apartment doesn’t look like the set of the coming-of-age movies I watched as a kid. But that doesn’t mean I can’t breathe a little life into my current surroundings. And if I can add a little color to my space, you can too.
