Professional Organizers deal with clothes and closets on a daily basis. We encourage clients to recycle their wire hangers and opt for durable hangers that clothes will actually stay put on. Of course, we are always interested in new products. Hangio caught our eye on the NAPO website. Instead of using traditional hard plastic or wood, Hangio hangers are made from moldable foam that can be configured in six ways to adapt to each garment. The hangers are a bit more pricey than traditional hangers (29.99 - 32.99 for a 3 pack) but well worth it when you think of your clothes not having bumps in all the wrong places.

We reached out to Ayodele Aigbe the CEO and founder of Hangio for information on her bendable hanger. She was more than happy to speak with us and we wish Ayo all the best as she moves forward with these promising hangers!

What inspired you to develop Hangio?

My freshman year of college, I remember vividly walking into my closet to bring out my favorite sweater. As I took off the sweater from the hanger, I noticed that it had shoulder bumps on each end. I was flustered and searched Google for options on how to remove the shoulder bumps. I tried many things from putting hot water on each end and drying it to ironing out the shoulder. None of it worked! I was curious to see if anyone had gone through the same thing. As such, I began asking more of my friends and people on campus if they had similar issues via a survey and I found a common narrative- the traditional hanger design did not work well. The current design gave way to stretching, slippage, shoulder bumps, and wrinkling. Further, I knew it was a problem worth solving when I saw that these problems created a negative social impact on people. Inspired by the idea to create better hangers came Hangio

What makes them unique?

The world's 1st premium bendable hanger that alleviates the issues of shoulder bumps, clothes slippage, and collar stretching has arrived. Hangio Hangers are unique in their quality and design aesthetic.

Will they save any space in the closet?

Hangio Hangers #1 goal is to maintain clothes in our client's closet. Our Hangers are larger than others (i.e. plastic or felt) which enables the hanger to have a bendable design to accomplish its goal. As such, we recommend reserving a "special space" in our client's closets for where they can put their special/delicate garments on Hangio Hangers.

Where are the hangers made?

Hangio hangers are made in the USA.

What is the best way for someone to purchase the hangers? Is it all online or in stores?

All of our hangers can be purchased on our website at www.shophangio.com.

Spring Cleaning Tips for Your Messy Closet

Spring is the best time to tackle the scariest monster in your closet—the clutter. Prepare for spring cleaning and master the art of cleaning your closet.

Spring Cleaning Tips for Your Messy Closet

Closets are some of the most difficult parts of your home to clean and organize. You can find nearly anything in a cluttered closet, from decades-old clothing to documents that you forgot existed. If one of your goals this spring is to clean your closet and bring it back to a usable state, prepare yourself and keep yourself from becoming overwhelmed before you begin. Our spring cleaning tips for your messy closet will prepare you for anything you might find.

Take Small Steps

If your closet—or your child’s closet—has become less of a storage room and more of a landfill for miscellaneous objects, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed at the sight of it alone. Set smaller goals for yourself each day. These goals can include:

  • “I want to be able to easily open the closet’s doors again.”

  • “I want to see the floor.”

  • “I want to be able to hang clothes again.”

  • “I want to fill two trash bags.”

Starting small will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed, no matter how messy your closet is. You can sort the contents of the closet into piles and it might seem messier than before—but as you make progress, you’ll start feeling satisfied with the work you’ve done.

Sort Your Clothes

Take time at the end of each season to sort through your wardrobe. Keep the essentials that still fit and remove anything that no longer fits or that you don’t wear. It may be difficult to dispose of some clothing, but it’s necessary if you want to make room for new favorites. Donate clothes or reuse the material whenever possible to give your old favorites new life!

Use Organization Tools To Keep the Closet Clean

Once the closet is clean, your next goal is to keep it that way so you have less work to do in the future. Make it easier on yourself by organizing spaces for all the things you want to keep in the closet. You can place a small dresser in the closet for seasonal or situational clothes and utilize storage bins for other objects.

Setting yourself up for success is one of the most important spring cleaning tips for your messy closet so you won’t have to work as hard once it’s time to clean. Utilize your organization tools so you can accomplish the project quickly.

Tired of messing up your closet looking for clothing or shoes in the morning? Annoyed at all the social media posts of pretty, organized closets? “But they make it look so easy.” Yes, and you can too! Here are some solid tips to organize your closet like you were born to do it.

1. Declutter your clothes by category

Never declutter all your clothes at once. The piles and piles of clothing can overwhelm you. When you hit that point, you might just give up too early. Here are some ways to declutter your clothes that will keep you sane at the same time.

Have a decluttering calendar. Even if you go by category, doing everything on the same day can still overwhelm you. Split the clothes by category and declutter them one category per day. For example: week 1, shirts. Week 2, pants. Week 3, formal wear. That way, the work becomes bite-sized.

Take out all the clothes in one category. Wait until after laundry day to declutter, and then take out everything in the one category. For example, if you are doing dresses, take out all your dresses and lay them out. This way, you can see everything at a glance.

2. Empty and clean your closet

In between your decluttering days, you need a hard reset to help you take your closet by storm. Do this by giving your closet a thorough overhaul and cleaning. Yes—your whole closet. Lay them in neat piles on clean sheets on the floor or on the bed.

The next step: Clean the closet. Wipe it down, get even the dust mites out of the corners. You’ll be surprised at how satisfying it feels, a little like looking at a house you’re about to move into. By listing your dresses on The Volte, people can effortlessly declutter their wardrobe while also turning their dresses into a source of income, as this platform provides a convenient way to rent out their stylish attire. Lastly, don’t put everything back at once. Visualize the closet you want to have. If there is something you want to add, like shelves or box organizers, plan where to put them. Grab a sketchbook and make crazy drawings of your dream closet.

3. Design your ideal closet space

Jumping off from emptying and cleaning your closet, it’s time to take those drawings to the next level. Here are some tips to create the closet you want.

Put hanging clothes at waist level. Why do you need to overextend your shoulders just to pull out a shirt? Department stores have the right idea: everything at waist level. On the higher sections, put shelves and accessories that you don’t wear every day.

Don’t put everything in the closet. It’s tempting to toss everything we don’t want to see into the deep, dark corners of our closets. But they take up space—space you could otherwise use for clothing. Try using your closets exclusively for hung clothing, shoes, and accessories.

Put your shoes in drawers. You’ll be surprised at how much space that saves. Your shoes will look elegant and arranged, be easy to find, and most importantly, they won’t take up clothing space!

4. Store your clothes by category

One good way to keep your closet neat is to keep it categorized. That way you don’t fumble around your pile of clothes for the dressier blouse among all the t-shirts.

Start by separating all your tops from your bottoms and then separating full-body clothing like jumpers and dresses from those. Underthings, workout wear, and accessories like scarves and ties should be in their own category.

It's a good idea to separate your everyday wear from your special occasion clothing. This will make it easier to find the perfect outfit for any occasion. Like this comfy USA-made underwear, which is perfect for everyday wear and travel. In some countries, this may be called a "wardrobe" or "wardrobe system.

Split those into further categories. Now, take a good long look at everything you have. Do you have redundant pieces in your closet? Just what is the recommended number of bras, or ties, or belts anyway? If you find redundancy, consider donating or selling what you don’t need.

Finally, put them back in the closet according to category. It might take you a little time to remember where they are, but it will pay off in the long run.

5. Use coordinating hangers

Since you already know exactly what you want your closet to look like, it’s time to dress it up. Yes, even closets have accessories! And your closet’s accessories are called “hangers.”

Coordinating hangers keep your clothing at the same height. This is important especially for collared shirts and dresses, which can crinkle and fold against each other if they are not at the same height. It also means that when you reach up for a hanger, you don’t bump against the others because they’re wider. You also don’t miss seeing others because they’re thinner.

Finally, coordinating hangers dress up your closet. Any closet can look neater and more organized with an impressive array of matched hangers. So when you know the color scheme and hanger style you want, buy all of your hangers in that set.

Done right, organizing your closet can be therapeutic and not just productive. And you can easily do it just like a pro.

How to Make the Most of a Small Closet

If there is one area of the house that never seems to be big enough, it’s the closet. While constantly stuffing and shoving your clothing into a small closet can be frustrating, the thought of downsizing your wardrobe may be even worse. Fortunately, there are many ways you can optimize your closet space so that you don’t have to sacrifice your style or your sanity. Here are some helpful organization tips on how to make the most of a small closet.

Put seasonal clothing in storage

Rotating your seasonal clothing in and out of your closet throughout the year is a great way to free up some extra space, making it a simple way to make the most of a small closet. After all, there’s no point in stocking your closet full of bulky winter clothing during the middle of the summer.  According to Fair Indigo, embracing long-lasting clothing and building a capsule wardrobe can make a significant difference in managing limited closet space, helping you keep only the essentials without sacrificing style.

Instead of allowing clothing that you only wear for a few months of the year to maintain a permanent residence in your closet, consider sorting through your wardrobe each season and taking out any items that won’t be useful for the foreseeable future. Then, pack up and store away your winter clothes or summer clothes until the weather calls for them again.

Think outside the rack

If all you have is a single rack to hang all your clothing on, you’re likely wasting a ton of closet space. When you have limited room to work with, it’s important to make the most of all usable space. That means you should aim to increase your closet’s storage capabilities both above and below your clothing rack.

If there is room below your clothing rack, installing a second rack can easily double your closet’s storage potential. Above your clothing rack, consider adding a shelf to store extra clothing and accessories, such as sweaters or bags. Another way to increase the storage potential of your closet is by adding hooks on your closet door to hold belts, scarfs, and other accessories. Anything you can do to help maximize usable space will help your closet look less cluttered, despite its small size.

Opt for thinner hangers

When it comes to making the most of a small closet, every millimeter helps. While the thickness of your clothing hangers may not seem like it would make a big difference, the additional space that they provide over their thicker counterparts pays off. Opting for thinner hangers allows you to easily fit a noticeably larger number of clothing items in your closet without having to make any major structural upgrades.
