Decorating your playroom or empty basement is always a fun and exciting idea. There are tons of routes that you can go for when doing so. Knowing what you want and need to be in your playroom is key to making it a success.

Is it going to be for your kids? Is it a man-cave for you and the gang then try some of the best pool tables! Think about the essentials first and imagine what you want to be included in your room for fun and entertainment. When you’ve listed down everything, then it’s time to get going. Let the fun begin!

Start with the Fun and Games

It’s called a playroom for a reason. People of all ages should be able to walk-in on it and have instant fun. So start with your traditional board games. Chess, Monopoly, Scrabble are just some of the good choices as everyone knows how to play them and these games will provide countless hours of fun.

For the big kids, try a Foosball table or check out some of the best pool tables available for you (Pool Table Guide). Shuffleboards and Ping-Pong tables should also be good choices or maybe a card game corner too!

Music and Booze

Foosball

Nothing can spice up the fun with some neat music and refreshing drinks. Setup a bar or cocktail area if you can and want to. It adds up into the vibe plus you’ll be deemed as one gracious host. Nothing like a good sip of cold beverage after or while playing pool right?

Also, make sure to have that surround sound ready when you want to blast some tunes into the room. That’s going to be an instant hit for sure!

Make it Multi-purpose

Another great idea is to make your playroom or basement versatile. Sometimes you play and relax on it but sometimes you may want to use it as a gym. Why not? It’s not only convenient but also economic.

Put some gym equipment in and use it as a place for physical activity. You probably won’t have guests all the time and if you’ll do they can exercise with you too. Sounds like a great idea right? Now, your basement is not only for fun and entertainment but also for healthy activities too.

Quiet Lounge

As mentioned, not all the time you’ll have visitors coming in, so making this place your man-cave or quiet lounge should be ideal too. Imagine after a long day’s work you have a place to just kick back and relax.

Or maybe this can be turned into the kid’s study lounge? Why not? Setup a mini-library on it. Books are always in fashion and you can’t go wrong with them.

Setup a projector or a good-sized TV. Make it a room for movies too where you can hang out with the family.

Fun Design

Think out of the box! Artsy designs can stimulate the imagination and at the very least provide some good vibes into the entire room. Paint or design the walls if you like. Make it comfortable with creative cushions or seats.

Think of a theme for it. Maybe, a cartoon-themed room is what you want. Rustic design anyone? Try vertical designs or shrink everything down if you won’t have enough space. Colorful rugs are also good ideas. Make sure you think about maintenance with everything that you put in the room though.

Try a variety of ways to maximize what you got.

Fun Additions

Try to fillin’ every nook and cranny if you can and want. Dartboards are fun too! Try to add-in anything that can be both competitive and fun. And also, add stuff in your playroom that would help people bond and create good memories together.

Nostalgia should be a good theme, put in some old video games, the console ones should be a hit. Why not try a pinball machine? Scoring the highest points on these arcade games should be quite exhilarating.

It will surely bring out the competitor in your gang. You can even host weekend games and make it a thing for everyone to enjoy.

The sky and your creativity is the limit when it comes to spicing things up on a playroom or basement. Try these ideas out and we assure you’ll have loads of fun!
