Amidst social distancing, we’ve all been hyper-aware of our cleaning habits. From washing our hands more often to disinfecting deliveries and everything in between, it’s clear that improved hygiene practices have emerged from the pandemic. Although our dishes are spotless and our laundry is clean, it seems that the population has avoided cleaning something we use nearly every day in our homes.
According to a phone cleanliness survey done by Panda Security, only half of Americans are disinfecting their phones at least once per day, as recommended by the CDC. That number is shocking, considering 94% of our phones are contaminated with germs, per the Annals of Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobials.
So after you’ve organized your home office, it’s time to take it a step further by disinfecting your electronics. Start with your keyboard, move to your handheld devices and touch screens, gaming controllers, and finally remote controls.
Panda Security recommends cleaning all electronics with the following steps:
Unplug your device.
Wash your hands.
Take off your protective covers.
Wipe away visible particles with a dry cloth.
Use a non-abrasive cloth and dampen with an EPA approved disinfectant.
Gently wipe down the device, avoiding openings.
