A well-equipped bathroom is an essential part of any home. A small bathroom can feel cramped and uncomfortable. Fortunately, there are some ways that you can remodel it to give it some extra space.
Get a Pedestal Sink
Vanities take up a lot of space. Therefore, you can make more room in your bathroom by getting rid of the vanity and replacing it with a pedestal sink. You can easily find other places to store items that you normally would have put in the vanity. Putting a pedestal sink in will really open up the area, and it will make the bathroom feel bigger than it is.
Add Shower Storage
You probably have all sorts of items that you need to store in your bathroom, but you just don't have an adequate amount of space for them. You can keep soap, shampoo, conditioner, razors, and whatever else you use to shower in your shower. There are shower storage systems that are designed for this, and they are made to withstand getting wet. You might add a hanging unit to hold your toiletries or install some extra shelving in your shower.
Replace the Tub With a Shower
While many enjoy relaxing in the bath after a long day, not everyone takes baths. If you only take showers, you can make your bathroom bigger by replacing your tub with a shower. Showers take up only about two-thirds as much space as a bath does, so it opens up a lot of space for other things.
You will need to change the plumbing in order to make your bathroom compatible for a shower. However, it will be worth it in order to create more space in your small bathroom. Unless you have previous experience with plumbing, this probably isn’t a renovation you can do on your own, so it’s best to talk to a licensed plumber.
Utilize Wall Space
A lot of individuals just don't utilize wall space in their homes as they should. If you have a small bathroom, you can really maximize the space by going vertical. Hang shelves on the walls to store things like towels and toiletries. You can also put a rack over the back of the toilet to store items like your hair dryer or brushes.
Use a Pocket Door
If you have a regular bathroom door, most likely, it opens inward, and you will not be able to use the space behind it. It may actually be beneficial to use a pocket door instead. It will go in and out of the wall when you close and open it, and you won't have to worry about the door hitting something. You can utilize this extra space by adding a shelf or rack to store some of your items.
There are plenty of ways that you can remodel a small bathroom. By making even small changes, you can open up the extra space that you need to make in order to make your bathroom feel more spacious.
