You will need to change the plumbing in order to make your bathroom compatible for a shower. However, it will be worth it in order to create more space in your small bathroom. Utilize Wall Space

Hang shelves on the walls to store things like towels and toiletries. You can also put a rack over the back of the toilet to store items like your hair dryer or brushes.
Use a Pocket Door
If you have a regular bathroom door, most likely, it opens inward, and you will not be able to use the space behind it. It may actually be beneficial to use a pocket door instead. It will go in and out of the wall when you close and open it, and you won't have to worry about the door hitting something. You can utilize this extra space by adding a shelf or rack to store some of your items.
